Crafted by the revered English silversmiths Sampson Mordan & Co., these pieces bear distinct hallmarks dating them to 1908. Sampson Mordan is widely celebrated for producing highly desirable novelty silver items of the era, and these owls stand as a testament to that legacy. A detailed assessment of the hallmarks reveals the "SM&Co" maker's mark, the Lion Passant indicating standard sterling silver, the Chester assay office shield showing three wheatsheaves and a sword, and the script "H" for 1908. The detailed feathered casting, anchored by vivid yellow glass eyes, elevates these from mere dining accessories to miniature sculptural works of art. Perfect for an elegantly curated table setting, these holders carry a rich history of exceptional British silver design.

Specs
Maker/Artist: Sampson Mordan & Co.
Year Made: 1908
Materials: Sterling Silver, Glass
Dimensions: 1.25" H x 1.25" W x 1.25" D

Condition
These pieces remain in excellent antique condition with crisp casting and intact glass eyes.
