Produced at the turn of the 20th century, the piece bears a custom backstamp indicating it was manufactured expressly for the New York retailer A. Gottlieb. The front face serves as a canvas for a highly detailed, hand-painted aquatic scene depicting two fish alongside a vibrant purple iris, signed by the artist, Marcel. A heavily gilded, scalloped rim anchors the piece, demonstrating the rococo-revival influences of the period. Such large, artist-signed chargers were historically displayed in formal dining rooms and remain highly collectable examples of French porcelain artistry.

Specs
Maker/Artist: Limoges, France / Artist: Marcel
Year Made: 1900
Materials: Hard-paste porcelain, enamel paint, gold gilt
Dimensions: 11.5" W x 11.5" D x 1.5" H

Condition
The plate remains in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing to the porcelain canvas.
