While the incised "47" on the base suggests a specific mold or artist series from a high-volume studio, the piece captures the "Fat Lava" aesthetic popularized by West German and American art potteries. The technique involves a controlled firing where a lighter, viscous glaze is applied over a darker base, allowing gravity to create the organic, weeping silhouettes seen trailing down the vessel's neck.

The collectibility of these oversized ceramic pieces has surged as interior design trends return to the bold, sculptural silhouettes of the 1970s. The elongated "bottle neck" profile and flattened body make it an ideal centerpiece for a grand entryway console or a fireplace mantle. Its specific glaze palette—a rare combination of stark white, deep black, and subterranean streaks of red and blue—allows it to bridge the gap between minimalist modernism and the more textured, earth-toned Brutalist movement.

Condition Report
This item is in excellent vintage condition. The glaze retains a high-gloss luster across the entire body with no evidence of crazing, chips, or professional repairs. The rim is smooth and intact. The unglazed rectangular base shows light atmospheric staining and typical shelf wear consistent with age, further confirming its vintage origin.

The Specs
Dimensions: 22" Height x 10" Width x 6" Depth
Weight: Approx. 7.5 lbs
Materials: Ceramic, Polychrome Glaze
Year: Circa 1970s
Maker: Unidentified Studio (Incised #47)s Retro Home Decor

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1029/1327/8133/files/p1_871a0e8a-0901-467a-a5d9-73aa07bcccab.jpg?v=1788580878
https://thegildedfossicker.com/products/extra-tall-mid-century-drip-glaze-vessel-obsidian-cream-studio-art-pottery-1970s-home-decor-b1a86429
