Working primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, Grimball became known for his mastery of the salt-firing process, which produces the varied, "orange-peel" texture and iron-rich speckling seen on this vessel. The piece reflects the mid-century fusion of American craft and Japanese folk-art traditions, emphasized by the elegant bent bamboo handle and the hand-applied leaf seal. The base is twice-marked with Grimball's incised signature and his signature impressed leaf stamp.

Specs
Maker/Artist: Isaac Grimball
Year Made: circa 1975
Materials: Salt-Glazed Stoneware, Bamboo, Reed
Dimensions: 9" H x 7" W x 6" D

Condition
The body is in excellent condition with a vibrant, textured glaze.
