Crafted using the meticulous technique of arranging tiny glass tiles, known as tesserae, the design forms a vibrant floral motif set within the body of a finely detailed lute or mandolin. Small figural pieces like this are highly sought after by collectors of Grand Tour-era and mid-century European jewelry, representing a traditional Roman craft adapted for portable adornment.

A brass frame anchors the piece, detailed with twisted rope-style edging that perfectly borders the miniature glasswork.
