Dating to the mid-20th century, the brooch embodies the Brutalist movement, characterized by its raw, sculptural forms and layered metallic textures. Crafted from solid brass, the design features a central high-domed "sun" orb anchored by a dramatic, asymmetrical swirl of tapered rays. Each ray is individually layered to create a three-dimensional sense of movement, reminiscent of celestial orbits or solar flares.

The craftsmanship is indicative of a 1960s Studio Artisan, favoring the weight and integrity of solid non-ferrous metal over common costume plating. This specific "poured" aesthetic is highly sought after by collectors of Modernist jewelry, drawing comparisons to the works of Marjorie Baer and Zahara Schatz. Having developed a rich, deep patina over decades, this piece is a quintessential example of mid-century jewelry-as-art.

Specs
• Year Made: 1960s
• Materials: Solid Brass
• Dimensions: 2.5" x 2.5" x 0.75"

Condition
The brooch is in very good vintage condition.
