While the "Willow" story—a star-crossed tale of lovers fleeing a Mandarin's palace—was actually a clever marketing invention by 18th-century English potters to capitalize on the craze for Chinese imports, it has since become a cornerstone of British ceramic tradition.

Churchill China, the parent company of the Queen’s brand, is one of the oldest established potters in Stoke-on-Trent, England, dating back to 1795. This specific set by "Queen’s" showcases the deep cobalt blue and intricate detailing that collectors look for. Unlike older antique versions that require delicate hand-washing, these late 20th-century pieces offer the aesthetic of the Georgian era with the durability of modern earthenware, making them highly collectible for those who wish to use their vintage finds daily.

Condition Report
These plates are in excellent vintage condition. The glaze remains bright and reflective with minimal signs of utensil wear. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs noted. The transfer application is crisp and well-aligned on all four pieces.

The Specs
• Dimensions: 10" Diameter
• Weight: Approx. 1 lb 6 oz per plate
• Materials: Fine Earthenware
• Year it was made: Circa 1990s
• Maker: Queen’s by Churchill (Staffordshire, England)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1029/1327/8133/files/p1_3730700f-c0ec-41e3-87f2-0862588d263b.jpg?v=1788580829
https://thegildedfossicker.com/products/vintage-queen-s-blue-willow-dinner-plates-chinoiserie-set-of-4-3cd9bdd7
