A student of William Merritt Chase and a contemporary of the great American realists, Tittle was uniquely positioned to document the soaring architectural ambitions of 1920s Manhattan.
The work is executed with the masterful use of the drypoint technique; the deep, velvety blacks and textured "burr" visible in the cathedral’s arches and the surrounding scaffolding are hallmarks of a hand-pulled original. Tittle’s work from this period is highly sought after for its atmospheric clarity and historical accuracy—capturing not just the stone, but the spirit of a city in flux. With examples of his etchings held in the National Gallery of Art and the British Museum, this piece represents a sophisticated acquisition for collectors of New York history or fine 20th-century printmaking.

Specifications
• Artist: Walter Tittle (Signed lower right)
• Year Made: circa 1924–1929
• Materials: Original drypoint on wove paper
• Dimensions: 13" H x 19.5" W (Frame size); Image approx. 10.5" x 15.5"

Condition
Good vintage condition.
