The piece was manufactured by the renowned American art pottery company, Rookwood, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The base carries the classic 14-flame mark alongside the Roman numeral VII, definitively dating the creation to 1907. It is stamped with shape number 1005 and a "V," signifying the application of a matte or Vellum-style glaze over the molded ceramic form.
A highly textured green matte drip glaze cascades heavily over a soft rose-pink base, creating an earthy, organic gradient. The undulating, molded rim and tactile surface heavily anchor the piece in the highly sought-after Arts and Crafts movement aesthetic. The design stands as a beautifully preserved representation of early 20th-century American ceramics and carries an undeniable historical presence for serious collectors.
