This antique 19th-century blue and white long-neck bottle vase originates from the provincial kilns of Japan. Rooted deeply in the traditional mingei (folk art) aesthetic of the late Edo or early Meiji period, the thickly potted porcelain body bears visible horizontal throwing lines beneath a slightly grey-tinted clear glaze. An understated cobalt underglaze floral motif with sweeping, fern-like foliage decorates the bulbous form, demonstrating the swift, confident brushwork typical of regional Japanese artisans. The unglazed foot rim displays heavy iron spotting characteristic of early wood-fired ceramics, grounding the vessel with a rustic, historical weight. The tall, tapering neck and stable base present a striking silhouette, offering a significant acquisition for collectors of period Japanese sometsuke wares.
