Originating from late 19th to early 20th-century China, this crackle glaze vase serves as a prime example of late Qing Dynasty export ceramics. The dating of this artifact is supported by the impressed apocryphal square seal mark on the base, a well-documented characteristic of late Qing and early Republic period export wares. Further evidence of its antique status lies in the application of the iron-brown, high-relief dragon; modern reproductions generally exhibit a glossier, less refined slip, whereas this piece displays the matte, heavily textured iron oxide finish typical of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship. The off-white ground utilizes a classic ge-style crackle pattern, providing a stark visual contrast to the encircling dragon. This vessel offers tangible historical provenance and stands as a highly collectible artifact of traditional Chinoiserie.
