Dating to the late 1880s, this covered teapot was made by Doulton at Burslem, Staffordshire, during the firm’s Victorian art-pottery period. Pattern C742 pairs a softly modeled floral design with polychrome decoration and gilt accents; the crowned Doulton Burslem backstamp dates the piece to circa 1886–1891.
The round body, long gilded spout, looping handle, and fitted vented lid give it a particularly sculptural profile. Its visible rubbing and wear preserve the honest character of an antique table piece while the rich floral decoration remains striking for display or a collection of English ceramics.
