This antique floral trinket dish is attributed to Wächtersbach, Germany, and dates to circa 1900. Founded in 1832, the pottery grew into one of Germany's leading earthenware producers by the late nineteenth century, making decorated ceramics for the home.
Originally likely a drinks coaster, it combines a glazed ceramic center with a separate pierced metal mount. The glaze provided a surface that could be wiped after use, while the metal border framed the decorated insert and protected its edge. That mix of useful pottery and decorative metalwork gives this small piece its appeal. Offered individually, it makes a charming dish for a favorite ring.
