This antique brooch dates to circa 1890–1910 and features blue forget-me-nots hand-painted on porcelain in a brass mount. Forget-me-nots symbolized love and remembrance, so their place in jewelry was more than decorative. They offered a way to express affection through a small, wearable keepsake.
The flowers follow the oval shape of the porcelain, with green stems and fine white details around the petals. The back has an open C-clasp, a fastening widely used on nineteenth-century brooches before rotating safety catches became common. Together with the painted porcelain and brass construction, it supports the turn-of-the-century dating. Worn on a lapel or scarf, this little brooch brings a piece of that sentimental tradition into everyday dress.
