Antique Japanese Tsuchi Ningyo Black Clay Scholar Monk Figure 15"

This monumental antique Japanese tsuchi-ningyo clay figure originates from the late Edo or early Meiji period, offering a commanding wabi-sabi aesthetic. Hand-pressed interior details and subtle kiln marks firmly establish the provenance of this exceptional piece of regional folk art, a testament to the storied mingei tradition of the 19th century.
