Originating from the late 19th century, this Victorian Bristol glass vase exemplifies the hand-painted enamelwork typical of the era. The striking opaque, milky finish was intentionally achieved by adding elements such as tin oxide or bone ash during the glass-blowing process. This traditional method results in a significantly lighter weight and thinner wall than the heavily pressed glass produced during the same period. The front of the vessel displays a meticulously hand-painted botanical scene of daffodils and natural foliage, accented with surface gilt detailing. A hand-crimped scalloped rim and a rough, snapped pontil mark on the base confirm its authentic, late 1800s construction.
