This set features the work of Barbara G. Childs, a Pacific Northwest ceramic artist known for her intricate, nature-inspired textures and earthy glazes. These pieces showcase her signature "sgraffito" or relief-carving style, where geometric and botanical motifs are deeply impressed into the clay, then highlighted with a warm, reddish-brown wash that contrasts against the creamy stoneware body. This artisanal set reflects the functional-yet-expressive aesthetic of 20th-century studio pottery, making it as much a collection of art as it is serveware.
The casserole dish is designed with integrated handles and a snugly fitting lid topped with a sculptural knob, while the coordinating platter features an organic, undulating rim and a dense, swirling floral pattern. Both pieces are hand-signed by the artist on the underside.
