This hand-thrown stoneware vessel is a significant example of American spiritual studio pottery. The underside features a complete hand-incised signature: "DAVID" over "PH.", grounded by the "IXOYE" Ichthys (fish) symbol. The piece is crafted from a high-fire speckled stoneware, finished in a matte oatmeal glaze with dramatic, gestural brushwork in a vitrified iron-oxide umber. Designed with a heavy base and a narrow central aperture, it serves as a functional Ikebana container, intended to bring a sense of meditative "wabi-sabi" simplicity to a floral arrangement.
