This vintage 5-piece set is a textbook example of American studio pottery from the late 20th century. Each piece is hand-thrown on a wheel and finished with a classic "Tenmoku" iron-rich glaze—a dark, lustrous brown that breaks into a warm rust color where the glaze is thinner. The four soup crocks feature hollow "pipkin" style handles, complete with their original leather tie accents. The matching lidded dish is perfectly sized for butter, a small side, or a shared spread. The unglazed bottoms reveal a coarse, sandy stoneware body, each hand-signed by the artist with the initials JBE in a distinctive flowing script.
