Kosta Boda Kjell Engman Art Glass Face Masks - Blue & Green - Pair

This rare pair of hand-pressed art glass masks is the work of renowned Swedish designer Kjell Engman for the venerable Kosta Boda glassworks. Part of Engman’s celebrated "Face" series, these sculptures embody the artist’s fascination with folk art and the human psyche. Each piece is unique, featuring a core of deep cobalt blue encased in swirling ribbons of emerald and seafoam green. The "ice-glass" texture on the reverse is a signature Kosta Boda technique, allowing light to refract through the mask and illuminate the internal colors. These masks serve as both significant examples of 20th-century Swedish design and compelling works of wall-mounted sculpture.

Condition
The pair is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks or clouding; a minor flea-bite chip is present on the back of one mask (pictured), though it remains hidden from the front. Please note these sculptures do not include display stands or mounting hardware, but the recommendation is to display using a simple black stand that will allow the light to pass through the glass for the most beautiful effect.
