This mid-1990s teapot is a signed work by Larry Bruning, founder of Bruning Pottery. Thrown in porcelain, the vessel features the studio’s technical "Leopard Black" glaze, characterized by a metallic crystal break. The upper portion has fluid Lilac and Cranberry Red accents, a combination representative of Bruning’s high-fire reduction work from this period. Large-scale lidded forms are among the most technically demanding pieces from this studio, as the porcelain body requires precise kiln management to prevent warping. This piece serves as a documented example of Washington studio craft history.
