This is a classic "faux lavabo" or wall cistern, made in Italy during the mid-century export era. While it looks like a traditional wall fountain—complete with a brass-toned metal spigot—it’s actually designed as a decorative wall pocket. These were popular for bringing a Mediterranean garden feel indoors without the need for plumbing. It’s made of earthenware with a white glaze and hand-painted blue flowers. You'll notice a dense "crazed" texture across the entire surface; this is a common feature in Italian pottery from this period and gives the piece its aged, vintage character.

Specifications
• Origin: Italy (Hand-marked on the back)
• Approx. Age: 1960s–1970s
• Materials: Glazed ceramic, metal spigot
• Dimensions: 11.5" H x 9" W x 4.5" D

Condition
Overall, it’s in good vintage shape. The crazing is intentional and consistent. There is one small, shallow chip at the very bottom point of the basin (see photos), and some light residue inside from previous use as a planter.
