This striking 13-inch wall platter was produced by Pal-Bell, the premier Israeli metalwork company founded by Maurice Ascalon in the late 1930s. Pal-Bell was instrumental in defining the "Neo-Classic" Israeli style, blending traditional motifs with Modernist sensibilities. This piece features a central high-relief medallion depicting a laborer harvesting grain, encircled by the Hebrew inscription from Psalm 126:5: "Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy." The iconic turquoise-green verdigris patina is a hallmark of Pal-Bell’s mid-century production, representing the connection between the land of Israel and its ancient history.
