This authentic half-mask was produced in 1989 by R.U.G. (The Really Useful Group), the production company founded by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Released during the height of the musical’s global phenomenon, this piece is an official piece of theatrical merchandising rather than a modern mass-market replica. It features the classic "Phantom" silhouette with stylized theatrical rouge on the brow and cheek—a design specific to early-run merchandise. As the production has recently closed its historic Broadway run, original 1980s artifacts like this have transitioned from souvenir items to documented pieces of musical theater history.
