This miniature ceramic vase originates from Sarawak, Malaysia, a region world-renowned for its indigenous pottery traditions, particularly those of the Iban and Bidayuh peoples. The piece features traditional "Pua Kumbu" inspired motifs—deeply incised swirls and geometric patterns that reflect the spiritual and natural world of the Borneo rainforest. The vessel is finished in a high-gloss tobacco brown glaze over a textured, matte clay body, showcasing the contrast between the raw earth and the refined finish typical of Sarawakian craft.
The word "SARAWAK" is hand-carved into the base of the vase, marking it as an authentic piece of regional folk art often sought by collectors of Southeast Asian ceramics and tribal decor. Its diminutive scale makes it an ideal "bud vase" or a sophisticated accent for a curated shelf.
