This hand-sculpted piece is a solid example of the Dutch Paverpol technique, where natural fabrics are treated with a specialized hardener to "freeze" them into a rigid, permanent form. The figure has a lean, elongated silhouette and is dressed in a metallic-bronze leopard print wrap with raw, frayed edges that give it an organic, lived-in feel.
The construction starts with a wire armature, which has been tightly bound in copper-toned textile fibers to create the textured look of the limbs. It’s finished with a deep mahogany-colored headwrap and mounted on a simple, heavy-duty black steel stand. Because of the Paverpol process, the fabric feels rock-hard to the touch despite looking like soft draped cloth. It’s a sturdy, well-made decorative piece that fits well in a space with a more global or eclectic vibe.

Condition
Condition: The sculpture is structurally sound and the fabric is rock-hard. Please note that this piece has a matte, "found object" patina rather than a shiny, new finish; there is some light, integrated dust in the crevices of the fabric folds and headwrap that adds to its weathered, vintage character.
