This 10" ironstone plate by Shafford is a great example of the high-quality ceramics imported from Japan during the mid-century era. Shafford pieces from this period were specifically marketed for their "Ironstone" durability, giving them a more substantial, weighted feel compared to standard porcelain. The design features a stylized still life with a "sketch-and-wash" aesthetic—layering fine ink-like details over muted olive, purple, and blue tones. It’s a distinctive piece that bridges the gap between mid-century modern and more traditional farmhouse decor, making it just as suitable for a gallery wall as it is for a table setting.
