A Victorian carved coral demi-parure, circa 1860–1890, comprising a rose brooch and matching drop earrings in 14K gold, preserved together in their original fitted blue case. Coordinated coral suites were part of the nineteenth-century fashion for richly worked naturalistic jewelry, and this set captures that tradition particularly well. The coral has a pink color, with roses carved in layered relief, finely serrated leaves and small buds arranged across the brooch and articulated earring drops. The depth of the carving and the delicate leaf edges give the flowers a sculptural quality, while the suspended elements bring graceful movement when worn.

The survival of the brooch, both earrings and their original presentation case is a particular distinction. Together they preserve the coordinated design and presentation of a Victorian jewelry suite, giving a collector more to appreciate than an individual brooch or pair of earrings alone. The pale lining and blue case provide a beautiful setting for the coral’s rich color. With its intact floral carving, matching drops and period C-clasp, this is an especially appealing ensemble for a collection of nineteenth-century jewelry. The unmarked gold mounts have been tested as 14K.
