This stunning candle holder was designed by master ceramist Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche. Founded in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy, the Bitossi factory has a lineage of ceramic production dating back to 1536. Under the visionary art direction of Londi starting in 1946, the studio transformed traditional clay into an international language of modernist luxury. While the studio is most widely known for its Rimini Blu collection, Londi's mastery extended into more architectural, earthy designs like the Seta line. This chalice-form vessel utilizes a central taper socket surrounded by a deep plum-purple interior glaze, while the exterior showcases Londi's signature sgraffito incisions. The geometric color banding is elevated by genuine gold detailing that catches the light and adds immense visual depth to the underlying clay. Surviving pieces of this provenance offer both historical significance and material luxury for the dedicated collector of fine mid-century design.
