Produced during the mid-to-late 20th-century resurgence of Chinese export ceramics, this piece is a beautiful example of traditional Chinoiserie artistry. The underside bears an apocryphal stamped Qianlong seal, a customary practice used by mid-century artisans to pay homage to the revered porcelain of the 18th-century Qing Dynasty. The central motif depicts a vibrant, fruiting pomegranate branch. Deeply rooted in Chinese iconography, the split pomegranate revealing its seeds is a historic symbol wishing the receiver abundance, fertility, and a prosperous lineage.
