Daniel Lotton made this signed perfume bottle in 1992, bringing his love of natural forms to a traditional dressing-table piece. The son of glass artist Charles Lotton, Daniel began learning in the family's Illinois studio at fourteen and went on to develop his own botanical designs, including Pulled Fern and his signature Cynthia Flower. His work combines that close attention to nature with years spent developing glass colors and refining new designs, from small perfume bottles to elaborate lamps and chandeliers.
This bottle has the rich iridescence and flowing decoration that make Lotton glass so appealing to live with. The feather-like trails carry through from the rounded body into the tall stopper, whose ground-glass plug fits into the neck beneath the folded collar. Signed and dated on the base, it is a lovely way to enjoy Daniel's glassmaking on a dressing table, where the changing light can bring out its color.
