This Japanese stoneware plate showcases the "Tsuru" (crane), a traditional symbol of longevity, luck, and fidelity in Japanese culture. The piece is finished in a rich, mottled cobalt and sky-blue glaze that creates a textured, organic backdrop for the three cranes in flight. The cranes are detailed with metallic gold and white enamel, reflecting light beautifully when displayed. A hand-applied gold rim frames the 8-inch diameter, grounding the ethereal blue tones. Produced during the late 20th century for export, this plate represents the intersection of traditional Japanese motifs and mid-century aesthetic sensibilities.
