Produced in Staffordshire, England, by the esteemed Johnson Brothers, this charming seven-piece mixed collection of ironstone tableware showcases the highly collectible "Hearts & Flowers" pattern. As part of the Old Granite line, the design celebrates enduring folk-art traditions, depicting a charming couple in traditional dress surrounded by vibrant tulips, geometric borders, and namesake hearts.
The Johnson Brothers pottery, operating since 1883, earned multiple Royal Warrants for its exceptional quality, an honor clearly stamped on the reverse of these pieces. The high-fired ironstone construction ensures incredible durability, originally marketed to be both detergent and dishwasher safe. This specific grouping—encompassing dinner plates, a salad plate, bread and butter plates, and bowls—offers an excellent opportunity to expand an existing heritage set or to introduce authentic, mid-century English craftsmanship to a curated dining collection. The understated cream background and striking blue and red transferware make these pieces highly versatile for display or table use.
