This curated set features two impressive examples of mid-century Mexican Cartonería (paper mache). The pair includes a 16.5-inch fisherman with his traditional mesh nets and an 11.5-inch woman holding a glazed pottery-style bowl. Each piece is hand-molded over a wire armature and finished with a dark, moody pigment and a protective lacquer that was characteristic of folk art exports in the 1960s and 70s. Their expressive faces and detailed, stiffened paper clothing provide a striking narrative of traditional Mexican village life. Sold as a pair, these figures make a substantial statement for any collector of Latin American art or vintage global decor.
