Vintage Studio Pottery Diorama Puzzle Box Incense Burner With Secret Landscape Interior

This signed studio pottery diorama box reveals a meticulously hand-crafted interior landscape hidden within a minimalist exterior form. Crafted during the late 20th century, the piece operates as both a sculptural cube and a functional incense burner. Pieces of this nature hold significant collector value due to their intricate hidden dioramas and dual-purpose design.

The exterior presents a heavily grogged stoneware or raku clay body, accented by a single, sweeping white glaze line. Upon lifting the lid, the interior displays a detailed dimensional scene. A sculpted tree, mountain range, sun, and archway surround a central river, accented by star motifs. Pierced holes in the landscape indicate its intended use for burning incense, allowing smoke to interact with the interior space. The juxtaposition of the raw, earthy exterior against the highly detailed, glazed interior exemplifies the tactile artistry of vintage studio pottery.
