Walter Sargent 1987 Signed Large Floral Stoneware Bowl - 15.5 Inch

Hand-thrown in 1987, this large stoneware bowl is a beautiful example of Walter Sargent’s work. The artist was deeply interested in how we perceive color and shape, often creating pieces that feel like they were pulled directly from the earth. The center has a rhythmic spiral pattern that feels very intentional and grounded. Around the rim, you can find hand-carved floral details and soft, flowing leaves that catch the light against the blue and cream glaze.

Since Sargent believed that art should be a part of our daily lives, his pieces are built to be sturdy while maintaining a delicate, artistic grace. This is a heavy, substantial piece that looks lovely as a centerpiece or displayed on a wall rack. The artist's signature and date on the base provide a sense of history that mass-produced ceramics simply cannot replicate.
